The Kitchen Remodel!
If you don’t subscribe to my wife’s blog, well, you should! But also, you should head over there particularly for this: http://elizabethcarroll.wordpress.com/2009/11/09/the-kitchen-remodel-revealed/. We recently remodeled our kitchen as its previous state was extremely dysfunctional. While the ‘before’ pictures don’t look horrible, what you don’t see is the fact that the corner sink spilled water all over the floor every time we used it, the cabinets and the counter tops were warped, the oven cooked probably 25+ degrees too hot, the dish washer had functionality issues, the cabinets were terribly organized and had hardly any room in them (we had lots of stuff stored on the floor of the pantry because they there was no room), and honestly it was just plain ugly in person.
As you’ll read, we saved thousands of dollars by doing this ourselves and feel quite the sense of accomplishment now that it’s over.
