About Jason & Beth
Beth and I moved to Austin in June of 2006, 3 weeks after getting married. That was one heck of a time in our lives, massive changes happened all at once…Beth graduated A&M (hold back the evil glares), moved back in with her folks for 2 weeks, we got married & went on our honeymoon, moved to Austin 2 weeks after that, then finally got settled in to our new jobs!
Massive changes being clumped together has continued to be a theme for us – it’s God’s way of ensuring that we are dependent on him and not our own strength and understanding. For example, Beth just gave birth to our first son, Jude, on June 16th. Shortly after, we put our house on the market (for various reasons, more details on Beth’s blog) which sold on day 1, and we joined a new church community where I am the music guy (Origins). All of these things have their place in God’s plan and we’re very excited, but it is bitter-sweet.
I am 28 and Beth is 26. We’re both from the Dallas area and grew up just blocks from each other. Christ got a hold of my life when I was 16 after quite a bit of darkness. I felt compelled to get out of baseball, which was the most important thing in my life at the time. With baseball gone, I got pretty bored pretty quick and ended up picking up a guitar that was stashed away in our attic. Since worship music played a huge part in my conversion to Christianity, I wanted to really focus on that. I have dabbled in some other stuff musically, but God has made it very clear that he has built me for worship, not just for a stage (crazy story behind this, I’ll post about it some day).
Beth was also 16 when she became a Christian. I’ll let her tell her own story in terms of details, but it was very similar to mine in terms of having some darkness in her past. You’ll definitely want to get to know her, she has so many amazing and creative qualities. Check out her blog: http://elizabethcarroll.wordpress.com/
That’s about it for now. I hope I get the chance to meet and grow close to lots of peeps at Origins!

Just noticed a post by you (I think) in a photography forum and that you’d recently paid over $300 for your new Panasonic FZ35. You must not have Googled it before buying it, as I believe Abes of Main should be down to about $219 about now. I paid $279 about 6 months ago.
Just FYI

Never heard of Abes of Maine, but they’re at $323, so I still feel I got a great deal: http://www.abesofmaine.com/item.do?item=PSDMCFZ35K&id=PSDMCFZ35K.
Love the site! My wife and I are in the beginning stages of planting a church and leading worship. We are thinking about setting up a blog similar to yours. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.
