In honor of Hillsong United being in Austin this weekend and because I absolutely love this song, we’ll be learning and worshiping to “With Everything” this Sunday. I hope you can dig the lyrics and the melody because it’s been one of my favorites for a while. Give it a listen!
As I planned for the coming week’s worship, I was already inspired by this song, but over the last couple of days it has become even more inspiring. I’m hanging out with Beth, Jude, and Justin (one of my best friends) in the-middle-of-nowhere, New Mexico. Justin’s aunt and uncle own a second home in the mountains and are very generous to let us stay here for a vacation. I have gotten to do tons of reading, praying, playing and relaxing.
This is the view from the balcony at this house, which is why singing the lyrics “praise Him under open skies, everything breathing praising God” is so inspiring and fitting:
I hope that you enjoy this song when it comes up Sunday morning “in the company of all who love the King.”
A couple of things to note… 1) this is my new guitar! 2) this is just a quick preview so you can hear how it goes – the actual song on Sunday will be structured somewhat different.
As we approach Easter and continue in our series about clinging to the cross, I find this song very fitting. It covers a lot of different aspects of the cross and is a very worshipful song. It’s new to me and will probably be new to many other folks as well, but expect it this week and next during the worship set.
I jammed my Godin on this one to get some electric in there. I messed up one of the chords but didn’t feel like re-recording so you’ll have to live with it .
We’re entering a new series at Origins that is all about the cross. We’ll have many cross-centered songs during worship, as well as songs like this one that sing of His holiness. This song was written by Kari Jobe who is part of a band in the Dallas area called the Gateway Worship Band. We have a Gateway church here in Austin, but I don’t think the Gateway church in Dallas is affiliated. Anyhow, I really like this song except for one lyric that says “clothed in rainbows of living color”. Um, puke. I’ve been meaning to sit down and come up with something different for that part before Sunday, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. Other than that, though, this song is very powerful and pulls a lot of lyrics from scripture. Give it a watch below and let me know what you think.
Oh, the girl singing is Whitney. She’s just one of many talented musicians at Origins. It was a blessing getting to sit down and record with her. Thanks, Whit!
Just in case you’re following along and wondering why there hasn’t been any music lately, well, that’s actually a bunch of reasons. The main reason I had nothing to post last week was because instead of leading worship, I was actually preaching at Origins…which was a blast. There won’t be anything new this week either because there is no service. We rent a room at a Holiday Inn and they have a conference going on this Sunday morning. We’re taking advantage of the situation by doing a day of service instead of doing the usual gathering.
So, hopefully more music very soon. In the meantime, thanks for all the support and encouragement from last week and the whole preaching thing. Lots of people gave lots of good feedback and I’m glad I get to be part of what God is doing in and through the peeps at Origins.
